IIM Visakhapatnam runs a 2-year residential PGP (MBA). Admission is via CAT for PGP candidates. The selection considers CAT score, sectional minimums, past academic performance, work experience, plus WAT and Personal Interview at the final stage.

Who can apply

Education: Bachelor's degree (any discipline) with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. 45% for SC/ST/PwD. Final-year candidates may apply with provisional certificates.
Work Exp: No minimum required. Work experience contributes to the composite score for those who have it.

Detailed selection process — what to expect at each stage

Stage 1: CAT 2025 sectional + overall cutoff

CAT 2025 score is checked against sectional (70 in each section) and overall cutoff (General: 82 percentile, EWS/NC-OBC: 72, SC: 50, ST/PwD: 40). Only candidates clearing both gates move forward.

Stage 2: Application + profile screening

Eligible candidates apply through the IIM Visakhapatnam portal with the Rs 2,600 application fee (Rs 1,300 for SC/ST/PwD). Past academic performance (10th, 12th, UG marks) and work experience are factored into the shortlist along with the CAT score.

Stage 3: WAT + Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates are called for the Written Ability Test (WAT) followed by a Personal Interview (PI). The interview probes career goals, profile fit, and conceptual clarity.

Stage 4: Final composite score + offers

A composite score combining CAT, WAT, PI, past academic performance and work experience is used to generate category-wise merit lists. Provisional offers are released to candidates with the highest composite scores.
