NMIMS Mumbai Admission 2026-27 — Eligibility, Cutoffs, Selection Process & Important Dates

NMIMS Mumbai (School of Business Management) admits ONLY via NMAT by GMAC — CAT/XAT are not accepted. The 2026-2028 admissions cycle (NMAT 2025) runs 1 Aug – 10 Oct 2025 with a ₹2,900 application fee. NMIMS runs 10 distinct MBA programmes across 6 campuses — Mumbai (flagship MBA + MBA HR + MBA Business Analytics + MBA Digital Transformation + MBA Pharmaceutical Management) and feeder campuses in Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jadcherla (Hyderabad), Indore and Ahmedabad. Selection is two-stage: NMAT-based shortlisting → Competency Test + Personal Interview at NMIMS Mumbai. 30% of seats are reserved for female candidates; there is NO management quota.

Eligibility — varies sharply by programme

MBA & MBA HR Mumbai: Bachelor's degree in ANY discipline · 50% aggregate (across all subjects attempted)
MBA Business Analytics / Digital Transformation: Bachelor's in B.E, B.Tech, B.Sc Maths/Statistics/Computer Science/Information Technology/Data Science/Analytics/Economics/Finance · 50% aggregate. Other UG streams NOT eligible.
MBA Pharmaceutical Management: Bachelor's or Master's in Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm), BDS, BHMS, BAMS, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, MBBS, Microbiology · 50% aggregate. Also open to working professionals in pharma/healthcare sector who meet the academic criteria.
Final-year UG students: May apply (provisional admission). Must complete all subjects/exams before NMIMS programme commencement. Final marksheets at admission time.
CGPA conversion: Candidate must obtain a written equivalent-percentage certificate from the university for the CGPA-to-percentage conversion.
Foreign graduates: AIU Certificate (University Equivalence) mandatory.

Entrance test — NMAT by GMAC ONLY

Test accepted: NMAT by GMAC. CAT, XAT, GMAT, MAT, CMAT etc. NOT accepted.
First-attempt rule: NMIMS accepts ONLY the candidate's FIRST NMAT attempt score. Retake scores are ignored.
Registration order: You MUST register at nmims.edu before your scheduled NMAT exam date (NMIMS registration is a prerequisite for the GMAC score to be submitted).
Sectional + total cutoff: Stage 1 shortlist uses BOTH NMAT sectional AND total score thresholds (programme-wise). NMIMS does not publish specific cutoffs.

Selection process (2 stages)

Stage 1 — NMAT shortlist: NMIMS scrutinises NMAT sectional + total scores and shortlists candidates per programme. Call letter on candidate dashboard only (not emailed/posted).
Stage 2 — Competency Test + PI: In-person at NMIMS Mumbai. Carry your NMAT scorecard. Format details disclosed on the dashboard.
Final merit list: Built from: NMAT score + PI + Competency Test + Work Experience (only if >12 months and post-graduation) + past academics.
Multi-programme/campus applicants: Selected by merit + preferences + seat availability across the programmes/campuses they applied to.

Detailed selection process — what to expect at each stage

Step 1 — Register at NMAT by GMAC (www.nmat.org)

Mandatory. Pay GMAC registration fee. Note your NMAT registration number — required for the NMIMS application.

Step 2 — Register at NMIMS (www.nmims.edu)

Pay ₹2,900 non-refundable application fee. Enter your NMAT-by-GMAC registration number — NMIMS application cannot be submitted without it. Must complete NMIMS registration BEFORE your scheduled NMAT exam date (e.g. NMAT on 11 Oct → register at NMIMS by 10 Oct). NMIMS application window: 1 Aug 2025 – 10 Oct 2025.

Step 3 — Programme preferences

List minimum 5 programme preferences in the NMIMS form (final preference taken AFTER shortlisting). Generate the PDF of your application from the dashboard and verify carefully — no edits allowed after submission.

Step 4 — Take the NMAT by GMAC test

NMIMS accepts ONLY the score from the candidate's FIRST NMAT attempt. GMAC submits the score directly to NMIMS. Visit nmat.org for the test details and slots.
