TSM Madurai Admission 2026-27 — Eligibility, Cutoffs, Selection Process & Important Dates
TSM admits to its 2-year MBA (Madurai Kamaraj University-affiliated) and 2-year PGDM (AICTE-approved) programmes through a published five-component composite score: 20 percent academic record + 35 percent management exam score + 35 percent GD-PI-WAT + 10 percent work experience + 5 percent bonus for sports/co-curriculars. TSM accepts CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT, ATMA or TANCET (May 2024 or later). The Class 2024-2026 batch is 297 students (118 MBA + 179 PGDM) with a 52:48 male-to-female ratio. About 89 percent of the cohort are freshers (under 12 months work-ex). Top specialisations in the cohort are Marketing (100 students), Finance (94), HR (40), Operations (32) and Business Analytics (31).

Entrance exam
Valid scores from CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT, ATMA or TANCET — taken in May 2024 or later. NMAT also accepted per the Selection Criteria block.

Stage 1 — Shortlisting
Candidates shortlisted for GD-PI-WAT based on admission test scores, prior academic performance and relevant work experience.
Stage 2 — Final selection
Final selection based on the composite weighted score across all 5 parameters. At the Personal Interview, written, verbal and analytical abilities are also examined.

Application Strategy (TSM-specific)
GD-PI-WAT carries 35 percent
Equal weight as the management exam score. Practise structured WAT, GD on current affairs and ethics, and PI behavioural answers. A strong GD-PI-WAT can offset a 75-85 percentile CAT.
Non-TN domicile = scholarship leverage
₹1 L to ₹1.5 L scholarship slabs are explicit for non-Tamil-Nadu candidates. The 10 percent waiver is for J&K, Ladakh and 8 NE states. Use the diversity-incentive design.
5 percent bonus is real
Sports / extra-curricular / co-curricular participation is a 5 percent BONUS over the 100 percent base. Document leadership, sports state-level achievements, debate / quiz wins.
Work-ex is 10 percent
Lower than at most IIM-tier schools (typically 15-25 percent at IIM A-B-C). Freshers (about 89 percent of the cohort) are not penalised.
Multiple exams accepted
TANCET is accepted — Tamil Nadu candidates can use it as a backup to CAT/XAT. No specific exam-wise percentile cutoff is published.
Common Application Mistakes
Treating GD-PI-WAT as low-weight
It is 35 percent — equal to the exam score. Under-preparing it is the most common cost.
Ignoring the no-arrears clause for scholarships
All three top scholarship slabs (100 percent, ₹1.5 L, ₹1 L) require no history of arrears.
Missing the 60 percent academic floor
Eligibility requires 60 percent in graduation. The 100 percent waiver demands 80 percent (4-year degree) or 85 percent (3-year degree).
Forgetting to flag sports / co-curricular
The 5 percent bonus is documented but you must provide certificates / proof in the application.
Skipping TANCET as a backup
TANCET is explicitly accepted. Tamil Nadu candidates with weak CAT scores should take TANCET as a fallback.
