Who pays us, how we fix mistakes,
and the log that proves it.

A data brand lives or dies on two questions: whose money shapes the numbers, and what happens when a number is wrong. This page answers both, in writing, permanently.

The independence charter

Collvera is paid by students, never by colleges. Specifically:

  • No college has ever paid Collvera — for a listing, a ranking position, a favorable number, a softened down-year, or the removal of anything. There is no rate card for institutions, and there never will be.
  • No paid listings or sponsored rankings. Every college on the site is here because we hold its official data — 67 colleges, 531 report-years — not because anyone bought a slot. Rankings are computed from Comparable CTC, same-year, by the same rules for everyone.
  • No ads, no affiliate commissions, no lead-selling. Your inputs are never sold to coaching institutes or lead brokers.
  • What we do sell: products and guidance bought by students and built on this dataset — a research report, personalized analysis, advisory. Colleges cannot commission, sponsor, or influence any of it.

This is why we can publish a decline as prominently as a record year. The moment an institution's money can reach the numbers, the numbers are worthless — so it never will.

The corrections policy

  • Report an error, we verify against the source document. Anyone — a student, a college's placement office, a journalist — can flag a figure via the press page.
  • Verified errors are fixed within 72 hours of verification, everywhere the figure appears.
  • Every correction is logged below, permanently. Entries are never edited away or deleted. A public record of 1 correction event against 531 report-years is not an embarrassment — it is the accuracy claim.
  • We also audit ourselves, unprompted. Scripted red-team passes periodically recompute published figures against the raw source data; anything found lands in the log like any other correction.
  • Data is versioned. The dataset is updated in tracked, reviewable changes — a figure can always be traced to when it entered and what document it came from.

During ingestion of the verified dataset (67 colleges, 531 report-years), values that were evidently wrong in transcription were set to NULL rather than guessed — per the missing-means-NULL rule. No figure was estimated or interpolated.
Action: Affected cells nulled; source documents retained for re-verification.
