If you can solve a puzzle set accurately in 25 minutes untimed, your conceptual foundation exists and your problem is pure pacing. If you cannot solve it at all untimed, the issue is deeper: you are pattern-matching poorly or missing a key technique like constraint mapping or arrangement grids.

Spend two weeks doing exactly this. Five sets a day, no timer, full solutions reviewed afterward. Most students skip this step and keep burning mocks, which only reinforces panic-driven guessing.

Realistic Score Targets Given Your Situation

Targeting 100 overall is correct but incomplete. You need that 100 to be distributed as roughly 33+ in DILR, 35+ in Verbal, and 32+ in Quant to produce a percentile profile that survives sectional screening.

A 33-35 raw in DILR typically converts to 90-95 percentile depending on exam difficulty. That range is survivable for IIM Calcutta and Bangalore calls, though tight.

For IIM Ahmedabad, you realistically need closer to 38-40 in DILR raw to feel safe.

This is hard. If your mocks show single digits in DILR three weeks out, IIM ABC is a long shot this cycle. Do not pretend otherwise.

IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, and IIM Lucknow have slightly more forgiving sectional cutoffs and are legitimate targets at 95-97 overall percentile with a decent DILR recovery.

What a Recovery Timeline Looks Like

Six to eight weeks of disciplined DILR work can shift you from single digits to 25-30 raw. That is achievable.

It requires daily untimed practice for the first two weeks, timed sectional practice in weeks three and four, and full mocks only from week five onward. Do not attempt full mocks before your untimed accuracy crosses 70 percent.

You are building a skill, not testing one you already have.

Colleges and the Composite Picture

IIM Calcutta's shortlisting also weighs academic profile and work experience, so a 96-97 overall percentile with a strong 10th, 12th, and graduation GPA can still earn you a call even if DILR is your weaker section at 90 percentile.

IIM Bangalore weights the composite CAT score more heavily in its formula.

IIM Ahmedabad remains the least forgiving on any single-section weakness.
