Is FORE International Business specialization valuable?

FORE Delhi's International Business specialization offers ₹1-3 LPA salary premium over general PGDM, but only if you have a clear MNC or trade-operations career goal. It's a narrow play: valuable for the 15-20% of students targeting export-import roles or global supply chain positions, but not a transformative differentiator compared to IIFT Delhi or even staying unspecialized.

The Real Market Value

FORE's IB specialization places graduates into ITC International Business, Mahindra International, Godrej Exports, Siemens India, ABB, and Bosch India, mostly in operations, trade-finance, or supply-chain roles. The ₹22 lakh fees gets you focused curriculum (cross-cultural management, FX exposure, country risk analysis, international marketing) plus recruiter relationships that general PGDM peers lack. However, your placement outcome, ₹10-13 LPA for IB specialization vs. ₹9-10 LPA for general PGDM, depends entirely on whether the IB pipeline actually fits your target role. If you're undecided or leaning toward management consulting, finance, or IT, this specialization adds friction, not optionality.

When This Specialization Works

Choose FORE IB if: you've already worked in export-import, operations, or supply-chain functions; you're applying to companies like Volvo Group India, Reliance Exports, or Maruti Suzuki's international projects; and you can articulate why global business matters to you. The recruiter pool is real but compact.

You're not competing against 500 peers for 50 roles-you're competing against 80 highly self-selected students for 25 roles, but only 15 of those roles align with actual IB careers.

FORE IB vs. The Alternatives

If you have IIFT entrance access, IIFT Delhi is decisively better: ₹20 LPA average, stronger international recruiters (Unilever Global Supply Chain, P&G Exports, Blue Dart International), and better post-MBA mobility. FORE IB doesn't compensate for missing IIFT.

The specialization makes sense only as a Plan B when IIFT isn't an option or when your profile strongly signals export-import interest.

The Flexibility Trade-off

Here's the hard truth: specializations at tier-2 schools reduce optionality. If you pick IB and realize six months in that you prefer management consulting or fintech, you're disadvantaged.

Who Should Avoid This
