Geography adds another layer: international postings at McKinsey or BCG carry stipends 30-50% higher than their India equivalents. How Stipends Convert to Offers

A strong internship performance often converts to a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO). At IIM Ahmedabad, PPO rates from summer internships routinely run at 30-40% of converting interns, with final package offers that frequently match or exceed the median campus placement.

The stipend, in this sense, is also an extended audition. A ₹3 lakh per month internship at BCG that converts is worth far more than the two-month payout alone.

The honest summary: the numbers are real, but only the top slice of each batch captures the headline figures. Plan for the median, compete for the top.
