You may clear the minimum eligibility floor (IIMs generally require 50% in graduation, with 60%+ in boards being the practical threshold for matrix points) but still lose ground in the shortlist ranking.
The middle-tier IIMs and strong non-IIM schools like SPJIMR, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, and XLRI are worth taking seriously on their own terms - not as a consolation bracket, but because a realistic shortlist is more useful than a long shot. The overseas MBA route
